The Redwoods & Avenue of the Giants

We left the comforts of our BaB hosts Sunday morning with a plan of heading into California to see the Redwoods and the Avenue of the Giants. We finished up highway 101 and took the scenic way into the trees.

Pictures just don't do these magnificent trees justice! They're enormous! I thought I had tall trees in my backyard, but some of these trees were hundreds of feet tall and a good 10 foot wide at the base. It was truly an amazing experience to see these giants.

We were able to get a campsite at Albee Creek in the Redwoods. We treated ourselves to some chili dogs for dinner after setting up camp. What an experience to sleep under these trees. And honestly this was probably the quietest campground we've stayed at so far.

We finished touring the Redwoods Monday morning and made our way back to highway 101 and then got onto highway 1 heading south ending up in Fort Bragg for the night.

We stayed at a roadside motel for the night because it was rather chilly and we needed a shower. We were exhausted! So today, since we got a great night's sleep and hot showers, we are going to be heading to our next Bunk-a-Biker host in Clearlake Oaks before heading into Yosemite where we'll be spending two nights before the Labor Day weekend.

More to come!
